Shake rattle and dammit

I've been trying for a few days to post, but lately it's difficult to write.

I think this might be due to a few things...My PTSD is in pretty full swing right now, mostly due to the upstairs neighbors. They don't realize, or care for that matter, that sound travels. They have been told time and time and time and time again, that no, they can't play foosball at 3 AM or do weight training after 10 PM or any of the number of noisy things they do after 10 PM. So they do it anyway plus adding a few heaping helpings during the day. That includes stomping and pounding, jumping and whatever the hell else they do up there to literally shake the place, which it does. The wine glasses in the holder under the cabinets shake and rattle; If you have a cup of anything you can see waves in it. The whole place actually bounces. When we had pictures up on the wall nearest the door (which the stairs is attached to) the pictures would always go askew, and the stereo (which was in the entertainment center on that same wall) was ruined because they bounded down the stairs so heavily. The only thing that works on it now is the auxiliary input. The CD changer expired from the constant heavy shaking and vibration. The cats are jumpy and skittish too. That's just wrong.

This is not good, since my PTSD is due to a large earthquake a few years ago.

All this shaking and vibration puts me into constant "fight or flight" mode, and I am constantly on edge, and hyper vigilant. I'm very jumpy and I jump out of my skin at very little things. I'm very emotional and have gotten mad a few times for things that I shouldn't have. Every time this place rattles, I'm right back in that quake...and that was a 6.8! This has been going on for a few weeks, so I'm about shot. I never know if it's the real deal until a few seconds later.

I've told the Manager time and time again, and the guys upstairs always say "sorry! In our country they make buildings different...We are sorry! We'll be quieter" but it never ever lasts more than a day or two. The cats shouldn't have to go through this. I shouldn't have to have the Manager remind them time and time again...The stereo should not have been broken because of the constant shaking and rattling. I shouldn't have to be in fight or flight every time they jump on the ceiling.

It's hard to heal from this when everything is shaking all the time.

HUGS

I wish they would just move. I'm tired of it too. Maybe we can set up some electrodes to shock them when we hit a button? Kind of like a combo of electroshock therapy and psychological conditioning?

I have lived through this kind of hell with upstairs neighbors that drank themselves to vomiting every night (yes every night - we could hear their overly loud voices and movies into the late hours and then somewhere between 2-6 am the vomiting would start vomiting).

When they would not stop after repeated attempts, we did what you should also have a right to do.... called the police. Also find out about your local laws. There are ways to get them evicted. We did.... after many months of interrupted sleep every night. I never want to experience that again

Good luck.

Wow-What a horrid thing to have to listen to. I am so GLAD they are out of your lives for good now! That must have been absolutely awful..

Right now, I am keeping a log-If it's after ten pm it goes on the list.

It's been particularly bad the past few nights. They get in after midnight and it starts with their stomping up the stairs-Those stairs are connected to our wall. Last night they shook the place twice around 2:30 and woke the cats up too, so I know I'm not being overly sensitive. They do it at least once a day and it has to be on purpose. They KNOW not to do it.

Yes, absolutely calling the Police is well within my rights to call them, and you BET that's what I will do. I'm just building my "case" at the moment. They have been warned countless times by the management here.
